Energy Efficiency

The most cost effective way to reduce energy costs for any building, is to
make the best use of energy used, by reducing lost or wasted energy.

Figures provided by the EST show that :

  • up to 26% of heat lost from an uninsulated home is through the roof;

  • heat lost via walls can be up to 33%;

  • 1) energy efficient light bulbs use a quarter of the electricity of old-fashioned tungsten-filament lamps and can last up to 12 times longer;

  • Heating controls can further reduce energy lost to space-heating by 17%

2) Fitting a hot water cylinder jacket of 75mm (3") can save you £20 per year.

3) Having your loft insulated can save you between £180 and £220 per year.

4) Having Cavity wall insulation installed can save you £160 per year.

5) Changing you boiler to a Condensing boiler can save up to one third on your heating bills.

You can also generate your own energy and reduce your homes carbon dioxide emissions, by installing solar panels, a small wind turbine or a ground source heat pump. For future information on Renewable Energy products see www.susenergy.co.uk
